I Am Really Bad At Blogging, Part 2

As if to prove a point, it has taken me the best part of a month to conclude my end of year round up. I am, you must understand, really bad at blogging. But seeing as tonight will be my first gig of 2012 I thought I ought to zip quickly through my last few engagements of 2011….

Ordinary Boys @ Islington Academy
Yup, him that got married to her who he met off that TV thing. It was in the papers rather a lot, you may recall, raising his profile and subsequently killing off his slightly average ska indie band. Seems he has now brought back said slightly average ska indie band, though that largely remains a secret judging by the available shuffling room in the not oversized Islington Academy. I didn’t even have to knock a single soul out of the way with my camera bag on the way out. Mind you, those that did turn up were rabidly enthusiastic. Was pretty good to photography actually.

Saxon @ Koko
Indeed. I was hurled briefly back through space and time to my confusing teenage metal phase and a room full of leather, sweat and greasy hair attached to middle aged sorts who refuse to let the dream die. And at least one limp inflatable guitar gripped fiercly by a wheezing headbanger. I admire the devotion, but I was unable to suspend my disbelief this time around and made a reasonably hasty exit. They would have probably been a pleasure to shoot – they were of course heavy on the poses and tortured guitar-solo facial expressions – but the lighting generally put paid to that. Still, an experience.

Spitalfields Music Winter Festival
I will (probably) post properly about this at some point, but in brief; I had the pleasure of being invited back to shoot the Spitalfields Music Winter Festival – I was official photographer for their Summer Festival earlier in the year. It was again varied and challenging, but always an enjoyable and character building experince. You can see a few example shots below. More over on my Facebook page.
